What not to wear for Halloween
I was looking through the paper this morning and noticed something interesting. If you are a woman and want to buy a Halloween costume, you primary decision will be which kind of prostitute you want to be. Am I just old fashioned or did anyone else notice that? You can choose to be a pirate prostitute, a princess prostitute, a super hero prostitute, and many more! What a great idea! Lets go ahead and encourage the women of our world to make themselves into objects. I wonder if any guy looking at a woman wearing one of those costumes is wondering if that woman can carry on an intelligent conversation. Probably not.

One of the reasons I don't like Halloween is because people think that they can dress in ways they normally wouldn't just because it's Halloween. And, unfortunately, they think they can dress their children -- especially girls -- in ways that should be unacceptable.
Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) gives me much pride in knowing that values and moral standards are being upheld in respect to our Heavenly Father.... Through Jesus Christ we are able to teach our family to love each other and quite frankly "what would Jesus do?". Halloween has lost the fun for the kids and has become an adult smut fest!! I personally miss the days when it was fun!! FOR THE KIDS,,, and not just an excuse to expose unmoral activities .. I'm not judging,,, I just wish we would all step back and just remember the "good times" from hallween past as children!!! Shane Barber, Baton Rouge,La
I love Halloween and I think it can still me fun for both children and adults. I love the spooky, the colors, the pumpkins and hot cider. I love spending Halloween night with my children and grand children eating our traditional chili dinner and taking the children trick or treating to some of the neighbors. Hosting an old fashioned Halloween party is a great solution to many of the more crass options out there.
I agree with you Jayson about the costume industry, especially for adults. The solution is to come up with/make your own costumes. Of course that requires a bit of time and ingenuity, something that a lot of people simply lack.
One of the blogs I follow posts the family costumes every year and I'm always so impressed with what they come up with each Halloween. You can view some of their costumes at these links below.

Funny post, Jayson.
Unfortunately I have been "noticing" this for many years. And even more unfortunately I see it a lot in the church. Like Sue Anne said, people think that because it's a costume, that's different. And I say this about girls in the church. I'm sure though if our Brother showed up at that party they would want to melt through the floor. It's not different and that is why I refuse to wear such nonsense.
Thank you!! What's worse is I see far too many 14, 15, 16-year old girls out trick-or-treating that are wearing these horrible costumes!!
I agree. I was driving around on Halloween night and passed by some teenagers whose parents I felt sorry for.
