Quints Visit to the State Capitol on Texas Independance Day

OK, it has been a really long time since I have posted anything but I am going to start doing more now that I have a whole lot more time due to the fact that they are sleeping through the night. I want to start with episode number 7 which is where we take the kids (all 7 of them) and Rachelle's aunt Kathy to the Texas state capitol on Texas independence day. I actually only knew that it was Texas independance day because Riley told me. He is studying Texas in school right now. We now know where all of the big Texas pride comes from. It turns out that it is instilled in them during elementary school. He has come home twice in the last few days and said, "Dad, do you know what is so cool about Texas? It has a cool shape. Some states are just squares but Texas has a cool shape." Anyway, he has been telling us Texas facts for the last week so we thought it was appropriate for us to go to the capitol. Rachelle's aunt Kathy was visiting from Arizona and we also thought it would be a fun place to take her as well.

The babies all did really well and seemed to enjoy it...right up until we got them all back in the van for the 40 minute ride home. It was getting close to bed time and we really didn't want them to go to sleep because we didn't want to mess up their sleeping schedule. Fortunately, we didn't have to worry about that because most of them just screamed the whole way home. It was still worth it because it was nice to get out and do something with them. We had to take the two strollers (the three baby stroller and the two baby stroller) because we haven't received the mount for the big stroller. When we do get it, we should have lots of fun going places and being gawked at.

Anyway, here is the video:

I bet you just laugh your heads off every day at the things that come out of your kids' mouths. The younger K's and R's look so much like their older brother and sister.

I have 3-year-old twin boys (yes, only two!) and based on how much fun I have (not to mention how much hair I've lost over the past 3 years :) ) you are going to have a blast.

God bless you all!

I'm glad that you got out of the house for a while. I would think it was a breath of fresh air for everyone. As usual Riley and Kaiya crack me up, the babies looked a little awed but also like they were totally enjoying the State Capital excursion.

I can imagine that soon you will be timing how fast you can get everyone in and out of the Beast. I think maybe a future flick could be made showing that and which you could post going at warp speed.

Ryder, HMM and future ring leader, has a mega watt smile. Ruston just makes you swoon and the girls, beautifully gorgeous just like their older sister.

Great video Jays.

Riley and Kaiya seem to be totally terrified of the camera. They are so cute as are the other five. Rusty has the greatest little mohawk and I can see that their all starting to get more hair. Cool!

I really seem to have a talent for getting my picture taken from behind. But the kids are adorable, and it was a fun outing. It was great watching all the head snaps and double takes as people noticed the babies.

I grew up in Texas and let me tell you, Texas history is a VERY big part of everyone's elementary education. And middle school. And high school. Ha ha. But I know all about Santa Anna!

Anyway, just wanted to say that I love when you post videos. Your kids are so cute and so funny. You and your wife are lucky x 7!

It was good to watch the older two interact - one wonders how they hold up with 5 competeing for attention - my older kids get antsy just because there are two two year olds running around. Thank you for sharing! :)

I got onto your videos through Meridian Magazine. What a great family you have. I have nine children --- but they came one at a time --- good for you. I'm proud of you. I live in Idaho --- but wish I were closer to drop in and see some of the fun. Best wishes --- I can tell you are a great family.

When times get tough, as I'm sure they do, take if from me, having two little ones and five babies are better than none at all. Unfortunately, I haven't had the blessing of having any children. There is a big hole in my life and I can only image the love and lessons I'm missing out on. Thanks for sharing yours with the world. It's so much fun to get a peek into your amazing life. P.S. I'm LDS too, live on the East coast and got to your site from Meridian.

Hey Jayson! Hello to a fellow Texan! We live in Texarkana - how crazy is that! I saw your family's article in the BYU alumni magazine. I couldn't believe it! Congrats on your awesome family. I just have one question though...does Rachelle appreciate your disco dancing? :)

Anyway, it was fun seeing the article and I hope the best for you guys.
Take care! Jileen (Gale) Platt
